About this item: The subtle tonal variations of natural cotton bring beauty to this hand-woven Yucatecan hammock. Its weave molds to the contours of the body for unparalleled comfort. Long before the Spanish arrived upon the coasts of the Yucatan Peninsula, the Maya preferred to sleep and rest in hammocks. They considered the hammock to be like the loving embrace of a mother, due to the comfortable manner in which the body is held and swung within its cradle. Maya Artists of the Yucatan seek to preserve time-honored customs while also offering stylized versions of the original Maya hammock. For them, the hammock is a work of art. Their hammocks are incredibly comfortable, easy to maintain, and may be stored just about anywhere. It easily packs for travel to the beach or lake. Extender ropes (measuring 1 meter), hammock hooks (“S” hooks), and step-by-step instructions included for easy installation. NOTE: Because each is woven individually by hand, measurements may vary by as much as ten centimeters. There may be slight color variations from hammock to hammock.

2 1/2 weeks and it’s all moldy! I’ve only had this Hamic for 2 1/2 weeks and I originally gave it a five star review because if it’s comfort and how pretty it was, but now just in 2 1/2 weeks it’s all moldy. I bought a natural and now it is getting Black from Old. I called Amazon and they will give me a refund, which is going to take a while to process. I want to try this Hamic again because of the comfort, but I’m afraid the next one will be moldy as well

Excellent Quality Would buy another one of these any time. Excellent quality and love the idea of Mayan artisans making these hammocks. Very comfortable. We have been looking to replace our old favorite hammock. This is perfect.

Comfortable…. Much more comfortable then a traditional hammock and great with kids because it doesn’t allow their feet or hands to fall through holes. Only disappointment is some rope parts have already broken in one month use. Because of the unique weaving pattern I can’t figure out how to fix it. Although we still use it I’m not sure how long this will last or if this is a common problem with these type of hammocks!
