Premature failure seems to be common. I have had many of these over the years with varying degrees of success. Firstly you want to refinish all the polls especially if you are going to leave this outdoors exposed to sun or sun and rain. A light sanding and 4-5 coats of poly and you are good for a lifetime. I have used the same poles on 4x chairs.
